Educational Technology Leadership Conference

I am blogging from the Educational Technology Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology. The first day has been jam packed with great presentations and the conference general session that included a keynote from Susan Patrick, former director of the Office of Educational Technology at the US Department of Education. She currently serves as the president and CEO of the North American Council for Online Learning ().

She gave an impassioned plea to bring education into alignment with the real world outside the classroom. Her focus, of course, was on the importance of distance learning and she ended with four items that can become part of our "elevator" speech about online learning. I've got to find a cup of coffee and hurry off to a session but here are the points:

Online learning expands options.
Online learning is growing rapidly.
Online learning is effective.
Online learning improves teaching.
