vSKOOL

Created by a consortium that includes Cable in the Classroom and the North American Council for Online Learning, this website is designed to be the portal for access to online learning opportunities. Put together in light of Hurricane Katrina's devastating effect on 300,000 plus school children, the site will provide a database of online learning offerings. There will be listings of online teachers, and besides virtual learning, the group hopes to be able to set up community computer labs in effected areas.

Since the site only went online a few weeks ago, things are still getting started. However, the listserv is excellent and active, keeping up to date on all education-related hurricane news. Just click on the Supporting vSKOOL link to find information about subscribing to the list.
